Happy New Year 2016

2016 started off with a huge snow storm that left the whole city covered.  We don't get snow often so we headed out to take a walk and enjoy the weather.  Hannah, Emma Matt and I walked to Veteran's Park and it was spectacular.  We saw tons of snowmen, a huge snow house that someone had built and even a snow toilet.  This year for New Year's Eve we did the usual and played tons of games.  We added a Bounce Off tournament which was pretty fun as well. Usually on New Year's Day we hike Aguirre Springs but this year the trail was closed.  Our second option was Baylor Canyon which is a longer trail so the girls opted out and Matt and I headed out to conquer the 6 mile trail completely covered in snow and ice...it made for a more technically challenging hike but it was so beautiful and we were pretty much the only ones up there.  I kind of felt like it was a sign of the times that Matt and I would hike by ourselves on a day we traditionally head out as a family...things are slowly changing and everyone is moving on and in different directions.  Thankfully, I will always have Matt as my hiking partner.
