Summer Vacation to San Diego Part 1

Each summer we spend a week in Poway hanging out with Family and friends.  This summer we decided to extend it to 2 weeks and we are so glad we did.  We were able to see and do a lot in that 2 weeks and we had so much fun.  One of the first things we did was go to the Midway Battleship with Grandpa Kenney, Mark Diane and Ryan.  Thanks Grandpa for getting us in as your special visitors.  It was awesome to tour the ship.... right up until the time we lost Emma.  She inadvertently got swept up with the tour group in front of us and we couldn't find her.  The ship was closing so we were a little nervous.  I need to point out how hilarious it was to watch Matt searching under the planes for her....Emma is 12 and 5 foot 7.  You would have thought he was looking for the toddler version of Emma.  All's well that ends well though and we located her 20 minutes later with lots of searching.  It was cute though as we left the ship we looked up to the very top deck and all of the retired Navy Docent guys were waving and yelling Bye Emma!

While in California we were able to help Tracy Celebrate her birthday which we never get to do so that was awesome.  We also had Emma's check up for her scoliosis.  I am happy to report that her curve has made no progression in the brace so that is good news.  Unfortunately she will have to continue to wear the dumb thing 23 hours a day.  You can see by the picture I took during her exam though, that she continues to have a very positive attitude about it. We also took advantage of my other dear friend Stacey and had her take Rachel's senior pictures. Ray was adamant about having pictures taken in Grandma and Grandpa's backyard so that is what we did.  Stac is so good at what she does and she made the whole shoot so much fun.  I can't tell you how much we appreciate her.  I kind of got a little lump in my throat when she suggested that we take some photos with the lemon trees.  The lemon trees hold a really special place for all of us because they were and are such a big part of our trips to Poway each year.  The girls love to pick lemons and make lemonade with Grandpa.  I have a feeling that this is not the first time I will feel a little emotional during this year!

can't believe this girl is gonna be a senior

Hannah and I were feeling a little under dressed during the photo shoot

Lulu was able to come up from Santa Barbara to spend a few days with us in Poway.  We had so much fun hanging our with her.  We went to the beach, went sailing with Uncle Mark and Aunt Diane and played lots of games.  We can't wait until she can come stay with us in New Mexico.  Lu is pretty fun and we love her lots! A special thank you to Mark and Diane for taking us out for the day Sailing.  We had such an awesome time on the boat.
