FFA Banquet

It must be the end of the school year because I feel like there is a function, event, play, showcase, banquet, or other obligation every day now!  As such, we celebrated Rachel (again) at her annual year end FFA Banquet.  We enjoyed a brisket dinner and sat back to watch all that the kids had accomplished this year.  I have said it before but it definitely bears repeating, FFA is an awesome organization.  Rachel's chapter gives her countless opportunities to be involved in our community. They have high standards for being a hardworking and honest person. And I know it gets old hearing about "leadership" opportunities for kids but FFA really does do a fantastic job of encouraging that in the kids. There were many members of the local community invited to the banquet last night and it was evident how thankful they were for all of the hours these kids put in to helping them.  All the usual awards were given out and then the big award for the evening was presented.  Rachel was surprised when she received the highest award for service.  The award goes to the member that consistently goes above and beyond in terms of service, volunteering, helpfulness and positive attitude.  Rachel received the award last year as well so that was really special for her.  Matt and I are proud of all that Rachel does to be a helpful person with her teachers and FFA sponsors and we were excited for her to receive this special award. Matt was also recognized for his contributions to the chapter this year.  He recently volunteered to be a part of the interview committee for selecting the new officer team.  Rachel is once again Treasurer.
