lordy lordy NOW look who's 40!

Well, it finally happened.  The baby of his family finally turned the big 4 0.  Yep, Matt's birthday was on Wednesday and he turned 40 years old.  We tried to celebrate in a big way and this is what the day looked like.......up early to have breakfast and be serenaded with his 1st happy birthday song of the day.  Matt chose the menu this year and selected a French toast made from cranberry orange loaf that I put together  I think that the Food Network shows Matt watches are finally giving him some inspiration.  The breakfast was yummy.  After breakfast we opened gifts.  This year, the girls had gotten lots of small gifts and hidden them in Matt's usual getting ready spots so that he would find them throughout the morning.  He was happy to restock his whoppers and red vines supply for work!  The girls also made him gifts which were a big hit.  Hannah worked really hard on her minion doorstop and it made Matt smile.  We spent a good portion of time going through each of the "52 reasons I love you" in the gift that Rachel made Matt.  Emma made Matt some PowerPoint slide shows and decided to wait until dinner to show them to him.  Whew...that is a lot before 7am.  So we sent Matt off to work where he was greeted by another small gift and balloons.  I had managed to sneak out some balloons so that his office would be festive for the day.  Working on your birthday sounds like a bummer but apparently, Matt was sung to several times throughout the day by co-workers....not a bad thing.  This year Matt requested Lasagna for dinner and in lieu of a traditional cake he chose homemade almond joy candy bars.  YUM.  To finish the day of celebrating we decided to play a game of Monopoly.  It is usually a once a year kind of game because I hate it so much...it keeps it special that way :).  Hopefully, Matt had a fantastic birthday.  I am so glad that Matt was born 40 yeas ago. He is sweet, loving, supportive, and makes us laugh all the time.  The girls and I are lucky to have him in our lives.
