Today was Matt's 39th birthday and we celebrated his greatness. The girls think he is SO great that they were willing to get up at 6am, during their summer vacation, so that they could decorate the house and make pancakes for breakfast. During breakfast Matt was treated to many wonderful birthday presents. Emma made him a napping mask. Matt is always saying how hard it is to take a nap in our small house because our girls are always so loud (fighting, screaming, and generally getting along with each other) so Emma came up with her solution to the problem. After breakfast Matt headed to work. Unfortunately, the Federal government does not include Matt's birthday as a national holiday with the other 47 national days off. We made sure to relax throughout the day for him though. After work, Matt was welcomed home to a delicious dinner of his choosing. Thai chicken with peanut sauce on flat bread with Thai cucumber relish. Birthday cake was a new recipe. It was called the Almond Joy cake, which is Matt's favorite candy bar. The cake looked pretty but tasted kind of dry and flavorless. Oh well, maybe next year. To conclude the evening, I showed Matt how great I think he is and agreed to play scrabble. ( I HATE that game). I hope that Matt felt loved and appreciated all day. Of course, that would mean his co-workers would have been a part of that process and that would be just weird....anyway... We really do think that Matt is great. Happy Birthday sweetie.
