SNOW DAY! (and subsequent power outage days!)

Last week we were lucky enough to be a part of the major snow storm that tore across the country. I say "lucky" because we do not often get snow here, and for us, it was a novelty. I assume that other parts of the country were not feeling so "lucky". We awoke to snow on Wednesday morning that continued all day. We also had below zero temps through Friday. School was cancelled as a result of bad roads on Wednesday and then again because of a major power shortage on Thursday and Friday. In fact, most of the city shut down as we were put on rolling outages for 4 days. The girls and I managed to enjoy the time off with sledding and lots of down time. We are fortunate to have a gas fireplace so we were nice and toasty as long as we stayed in the living room all day! We also have a gas stove so as long as I had someone available to hold the flashlight while I cooked, we were fine. The only bad thing was a busted water pipe that caused us to lose water this weekend but luckily, being the handy guy that he is, Matt was able to dig it up and fix it. All is well!
