happy smiling kids.....

Last week the girls decided with their friends that they wanted to do something nice for someone. Not each other or their siblings (why would you want to do that!) but rather someone they did not know. So they got together and made some cute flower pins (80 of them!) and baked some cookies. After making some calls, Rachel received a call back from the Activities Director at a local senior center...... she was so nice and really appreciative that the kids wanted to come in. So we went and the kids all took turns at the microphone and gave a little speech about what they were doing there. Then they passed out the pins and chatted with all of the residents for over an hour. They learned a lot and heard some really cute stories. Some of the residents actually tried to give them money for the pins, which was kind of funny to watch. The sweet ladies would ask their hubbys to "give the cute little girl some money, dear". The kids assured them that they were not there to make a profit (although they did have that "cute kid" thing going for them so you never know. I mean really, Thomas..that hair thing you have going on was the talk of the place!....) Seriously though, the kids had a fantastic time. They were smiling and and talking about it for days afterword..... and the staff and residents were very gracious. We are now trying to make plans to go back and help with bingo!
