FFA Banquet

The year is winding down and we are beginning to have all of our end of year celebrations and award ceremonies.  Last week we attended Rachel's FFA awards banquet to help her celebrate all of her achievements.  The FFA members worked really hard to make the evening memorable and put together a very nice evening for all of those in attendance.  We enjoyed a potluck dinner and then got down to the business of honoring all of the hardworking kids.  We were so excited for Rachel when she received a special award for going above and beyond the call of duty in terms of volunteer hours and being helpful.  She also received her greenhand award.  I am not really sure what that was for but it was a very nice plaque :).  The new officer slate was announced for next year and Rachel won the office of Treasurer.  I have to say that I learned a lot I did not know about FFA and was impressed by all of the very hardworking kids.  The organization puts a big emphasis on leadership and community involvement, which is something Matt and I whole heartedly support.  I am happy for Rachel that she has found a niche in high school that makes her happy and is an overall rewarding experience.  I could not be more proud of her...and besides she looks super cute in her formal dress which we all think resembles a flight attendant!
