Blue Ribbon Baker....

On Wednesday morning I made the trek out to the fairgrounds to enter the girls' baked goods in the Southern Mexico State Fair.  Emma entered banana bread, Hannah entered an apple pie and Rachel entered cinnamon rolls.  On Wednesday afternoon we received a call that Hannah's pie had received the Best of Show award for the fair. I had never heard of the award before, but apparently, it is a pretty big deal. We were invited to come out to the bake sale and auction that evening and to have dinner with local community members.  We did not realize that the best of show winner gets to auction off their baked good.  Hannah would be auctioning off her pie and getting to keep the proceeds.  After dinner the award for best of show was given out and included a beautiful Nambe silver platter engraved for Hannah.  Next came the auction where her pie was auctioned off for $175.00!  Needless to say, it was a pretty exciting night.  Unfortunately, when we went out to the parking lot, we discovered that our car had been smashed in on the driver's side.  No note was left..... who does that?  Anyway, after a lengthy wait to file the accident report, we headed home.  Even with the car mishap, it was a great night.  We are so proud of all of our bakers, especially Hannah because she won money that can be used to pay for the dent in our car because she has such a love of baking.

  1. You rock Hannah! I assume you eat every meal on your silver platter now -- and you should! And Tammie, the answer to your question is "whack jobs." That's who does that.
