All City Honor Band

Several months ago, Rachel auditioned for the All City Honor Band.  She was selected out of many contestants and this past week she spent 5 days rehearsing with the director from NMSU.  The point of the band is to give the kids a chance to play difficult pieces with a college director.   The band performed on Sunday and did a wonderful job.  This may have been Rachel's last concert as a flutist so it was a little bittersweet.  Next year, she will be in high school and that means Marching Band.  If you know our family, you know that we firmly believe in limiting activities that require too much of a time commitment or too much time away from family activities.  We have all agreed that we would rather spend time together as a family.  Anyway, Marching Band is about the most time consuming thing there is in high school, so Rachel has opted not to join. She will continue to make beautiful music with her flute...she just wont have to wear a dorky band uniform while doing it.

  1. Congratulations to Rachel. Case and I really enjoyed getting to hear her play. I have never learned an instrument and think it will always be wonderful for Rachel to have that. :)
