Happy Birthday Rachel!!

14 years ago at about this very time on a rainy evening....I had my first baby girl.  Rachel changed my life completely. I will never forget that night.  Time seems to go by so fast these days...Matt and I are constantly asking how we can be the parents of a 14 year old young woman.  But alas, we are.  This year she is busy taking the PSAT, researching colleges, thinking about what her career will be, babysitting, and painting her nails pink.  Meanwhile, I am busy thinking about that cozy, rainy November night 14 years ago and wishing time would go just a bit slower.....  

We covered the house in pink this year.  Emma's gift to Rachel was string after string of pink paper garland that she sewed together.  She was in the sewing room everyday after school working on it and Rachel loved it. Breakfast was Rachel's favorite...egg, cheese and bacon croissants (extra bacon please).  She had a lunch date with Dad and lots of relaxing around the house.  We ended the evening with her usual chicken and dumplings for dinner and another viewing of Soul Surfer.  Cake this year was chocolate peanut butter with a side of scoopy's custard.  By the end of the night we were all too stuffed to move but very happy.  Happy Birthday Rachel Catherine.  I love you very very much.
