4-County Contest

On Saturday the girls competed in their 4-H County Contest. We all had a great time and the girls did very well. All of the girls entered their sewing projects and competed in the impromptu public speaking project. Rachel made a full swing skirt and a black cropped jacket. Hannah made a fitted tank top and bermuda shorts. Emma entered a simple gathered skirt, tote bag and hair scrunchies. Rachel won first place in the impromptu speech contest for the junior division. Hannah is in the novice division and so is Emma so it ended up that they were competing against each other. This was Emma's first time in the county contest and even though she was very nervous she got up and did her impromptu speech and had a great time. When it came time for awards night, it ended up that she got 3rd place and Hannah got 4th place. It was really exciting for Emma to beat her big sister at something she was so nervous to do. Of course, Hannah was very gracious and gave her a big hug of congratulations. The day was long but it is always so nice to see the girls interacting with the adults of our community....they come and volunteer their whole day to judge the kids and they are always so kind and supportive. The women in the sewing contest ooh and ahh and think it is just "darling" that the kids all sew. We appreciate these judges so much. As usual, Matt was as helpful as ever. He holds the clothing during judging, races home to get whatever the girls have forgotten and provides moral support throughout the day.

  1. Matt's helpfulness reminds me of my own dad, I love that! Congratulations to the girls on their awards and their gracious support of one another.
