Emma's big day!

Emma is finally old enough to participate as a full fledged member in 4-H now. So instead of schlepping all over town to support her sisters, she will now be entering her own projects! She is over the moon excited. Sewing is something she has watched for so long that picking it up was really natural for her. All of the girls have a full plate this year in 4-H with a nice diversity in their projects. Everything from Sewing to Public Speaking to Electricity and Rocketry. Add to that the myriad of community service projects they do and you can see why our family loves 4-H so much. Where else can you expose your kids to so many things while teaching them what really matters about volunteering their time to help others. So we started the year with an apron making community service project. The Aprons will be for all of the staffers at the 4-H office to use during their various workshops. As for me, I will be teaching the usual baking projects this year. I have lots of new bakers on my beginning class and will also be doing a Pies and Pastries class this year. If only I could convince 4-H to use butter instead of shortening in their recipes! I HATE that stuff but 4-H is pretty old school about their pie crusts. Matt will again be leading the Rocketry projects this year. The kids will be moving on to more sophisticated designs. Should be a great year.
